Emma Toma is an American Documentary Photographer currently based in London. She received her Bachelors degree in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism at London College of Communication. Since moving to the UK, she has been searching for what it means to be 'home', with this she gained a greater appreciation for the American landscape. Her photographic journey has now led her to create her first ongoing series titled, “Bare Boned”, a personal documentary project that developed in reaction to the death of her grandfather. Set in Middle America, Missouri, she attempts to confront ideas of loss, closure and the complexity of family dynamics. Her work has since been shown in an exhibition of work by final year BA photography students from London’s leading art colleges at Photo London 2021.
